Are you or your partner pregnant and curious to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl as soon as possible? If so, an early gender DNA test can be extremely helpful. There are a few different options when it comes to which early gender DNA testing kit to choose from. In this article, we will walk you through who the major players in the industry are, and how they compare.

What is an Early Gender DNA Test?

Rather than waiting up to 20 weeks to confirm the sex of your baby with an ultrasound, a gender blood test can get you the answers you are looking for as early as the sixth week of pregnancy. With an at-home early gender DNA test, you do not need a doctor’s appointment, and you can take the test in the comfort of your own house.

An early gender test starts with the collection of blood from the mother. From that point, the blood is tested for the presence or absence of the male Y chromosome in cell-free fetal DNA that is found in the blood of the mother. If the presence of a male Y chromosome is found, the baby is a boy, and if no Y chromosome is found, the baby is a girl.

Peekaboo’s most popular product is their At-Home Early Gender DNA Test. There are two blood collection options or “Kit Types” for this test – the Click and the Lancet. The Lancet Kit costs $69.00 and uses blood from a finger prick to test for the gender of your baby.

The Peekaboo Click kit costs $89.00 and uses an easy, pain-free device that goes on the arm and collects capillary blood. Women simply stick the device on their upper arm, click a button to activate a tiny needle, and wait for up to two minutes for blood to begin collecting directly into the device’s tube.

For mothers who would feel more comfortable having their blood collected by a doctor in an office setting, the Peekaboo PRO Early Gender DNA Test can be a great option.
